THE RIGHT WAY TO BAR-B-QUE
RIBEYE STEAKS

2 (1 lb. ea.) ribeye steaks
liquid smoke
A-1 steak sauce
olive oil
gallon size Ziploc baggie
your favorite meat spices

Put the 2 steaks in the baggie and lay it flat on the counter. Add enough olive oil to the baggie to cover the steaks. Add 6 teaspoons of liquid smoke and 6 teaspoons of A-1 steak sauce. Add whatever seasonings you prefer. Stand the baggie upright, close the Ziploc and completely coat the meat with the mixture. Place the baggie flat inside a pan and refrigerate for 1 hour. This will allow plenty of time for the meat to marinade.

15 minutes before the marinading process has completed start your charcoal on fire. I prefer Matchlight. When the charcoal is ashed gray, put mesquite wood chips on the fire and put a cleaned grill in place. After the metal of the grill grate get hot you can cook your steaks to the desired doneness. You will now enjoy the greatest steak you have ever tasted.

Note: Never put ketchup on a cooked ribeye or you will never be welcome in Texas!

Of course this was written by a man from Texas. They always think they can dictate how people prepare and enjoy their food.

Bill -you are right on... 100%. Can never go wrong using A-1. Like you... I use a few Matchlight cubes first... to start. Once the coals are almost hot...add cheaper charcoal over. Usually place my steaks in frig., from 2 to 4 hours. Once steaks at desire doneness... wrap them in foil - and place to the BACK of the grill. Just keeps em' hot. Let sit a few minutes. Some of the juices will be in the foil when you open... and is absolute perfection poured over a grill baked potato.

Beth NC... Texas IS the cow capital of the world and most Texans probably DO know how to grill... better than either of us. You might be so lucky - as to have a Texan grill you a steak. (NO - I do NOT know anyone from Texas)... Just know where great recipes often arrive from.

WAY too much liquid smoke! Also don't think people should be telling others what to do with their own food. We all have our own preferences.
