I wanted to try a different meatloaf recipe and this one was so good! I also used a pound of ground beef and 1/2 pound of venison instead of just beef and pork.

Best if you sub the ketchup with picante sauce

I make this all the time and my family LOVES it! I even made it heart shaped on Valentines day and topped it with barbeque sauce and it was a HIT! :)

My first meatloaf. I only had 1.2 pounds of ground sirloin so I cut the crumbs & water a bit then took Sean's advice & subbed the ketchup for Newman's salsa. My husband and 9yr old picky eater LOVED it! Topped with ketchup hearts after 45 min @ 350°F, total 55 min.

To change this up some - use medium picante sauce vs ketchup. Break up crackers as your bread crumbs and use 2 lbs of ground chuck

My mom made this when I was kid, and my family now loves it also. I substitute Panko (Japanese bread crumbs) for the bread crumbs. I don't mix in the ketchup I slather it over the top and let it bake with the meatloaf. My hubby loves it, I use way more than a 1/4 cup. It gets good guest reviews too

I love this recipe! I add one can mushroom soup on top instead of catsup about halfway through cooking time. I always have mashed potatoes and use the soup for gravy.

This is the first thing I ever cooked in my own home over 30 years ago...I still make it! I substitute "Peter Luger sauce" (a horseradish steak sauce) for the ketchup... Yummy!

We throw in some mushrooms with the meat and my glaze on top is ketchup and brown sugar on the last 15 minutes. Loved by all. My mom used to make this, bless her soul she was the Paula Dean of our town!

I have tried many meatloaf recipes and vowed to my boyfriend that I will never, ever make another one bc none of them were very good. Then I came across this one.... He wasn't happy about coming home and seeing a meatloaf in the oven but that soon changed. This is the best recipe and we will now add meatloaf to our dinner rotation. Thanks, cooks.com.

LOVE this version of meatloaf! It never fails to disappear quickly. I add a few strips of bacon to the top just for a little something extra.

I use sweet baby rays BBQ sauce instead or with the ketchup. Delicious base recipe! Tweak it to your family's taste.

This meatloaf is really delicious :) but very dry. You need to cover with foil while baking and I put a BBQ glaze on top - makes it even more delicious! :)

I have made this for years and it is the best meatloaf we have ever had! Instead of the entire envelope of onion mushroom soup mix, I mix into the meatloaf about 1/4 to 1/3rd of the package. I use about 1/4 cup of tomato sauce instead of ketchup. Then I put the rest of the tomato sauce, along with the rest of the soup mix and a little water, over the top and around the loaf. It makes a nice sauce, since we like sauce!

As a variation, I omit the tomato sauce and use about 1/4 of the soup mix and a little water in the meatloaf itself, and use the remaining onion mushroom soup mix and some water around the meatloaf. It all cooks in together and makes a very flavorful sauce, which can be thickened with a little flour. I do this sometimes to go with mashed potatoes. It can't be beat! The only problem I have had lately is finding the Lipton Onion Mushroom Soup Mix in my local supermarkets. :-(

I have been using this recipe for more than 30 years. I have been told by my 80 year old uncle that it is the best meatloaf he has eaten. Years ago I was told by a young high school student who was living with us that is was so good he didn't have to put ketchup on it.
