I have made this casserole for many, many years. It is delicious! Would anyone know if the ingredients can be mixed together and then baked the next day? Just a question of saving time on the day it would be served and baked...please talk to me...Thanks! J

Can you use corn meal instead of jiffy?

Making for 1st time. Lots of teens at our dinner. Can this be mixed day before, then baked next? Merry Christmas to one and all!

Prepared this in the past, but haven't in a while. What if I don't have the Jiffy Corn Bread mix?

I make mine in a rectangle dish. When serving, I scoop it out from one end, then cover and place the leftover in the refrigerator. The next morning I slice it into 3/4 to 1 inch slices and brown them in butter and cover with syrup. Absolutely delicious. Shep

I make this every holiday as it is a favorite of my two sons...I double it, but I double every ingredient and while it does take a bit longer to bake, it works just as well...and leftovers are always popular...

We are a family of two so I only ever made this for "company" diners. But we really love it. So one day I made the recipe as directed, split it between two loaf pans, baked one and froze the other. When ready for the 2nd one, I made sure it was completely thawed and baked as directed. Worked just fine

I top with mozzarella cheese about 10 minutes before it's done baking. It's sooo good!!

You can omit the butter completely - and then put a little on top of your serving just before you eat it. Really amazing.

I've made this several times and everyone loves it, BUT, I've never tried it in the crock pot... do you think it could work? Suggestions?
