1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or Crisco
1 egg
2 1/2 c. plain flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. sweet milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Cream sugar and butter, add egg and beat well. Add flour which has been sifted with baking powder, alternately with milk and flavoring. Chill well. Roll thin and cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown.
