1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
3 egg
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. baking soda
Pinch salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix first three ingredients, add eggs and vanilla. Cream well. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt, add 1/2 at a time. Roll into 1 inch balls, press with fork onto greased baking sheet. Bake 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. 50-60 cookies.

This is a basic cookie recipe to which you may add cocoa, chocolate chips, nuts, coconut, etc. Use your imagination and have fun with this one.
