GRACE'S SUGAR COOKIES | |
We always make these a month or so before Christmas - in cans covered and kept cold, they just get better and better! 2 cups sugar 2/3 cup shortening or butter 3 eggs, beaten 3 tbsp. water 1 tsp. vanilla 3 1/2 cups or more sifted all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking powder Cream together sugar and shortening. Add water, beaten eggs and vanilla. Mix sifted dry ingredients; add to the mixture to form a stiff dough (more flour may be required if the eggs are large). Roll in small quantities to 1/8-inch thickness on a floured board. Cut into rings like doughnuts, using two sizes of plastic cups. Arrange both rings and holes on a greased baking sheet; decorate with sprinkled sugar. Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 10 minutes. Makes 8 dozen cookies. |
