GRANOLA | |
1/2 to 1 c. coconut 4 c. rolled oats 1 c. sunflower seeds 1 c. wheat germ or dry cereal (cream of wheat, Zoom, Cocoa Wheats) 1 c. chopped mixed nuts 1 c. honey or brown sugar 1/2 c. oil 1/4 c. water 1 tbsp. cinnamon Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix dry ingredients together in large bowl. Bring honey or sugar, oil, water, and cinnamon to a boil in saucepan. Pour this honey mixture over dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Spread on 2 cookie sheets. Bake about 30 minutes, stirring often. Allow to cool on pans, then break into chunks. Add dried fruit such as raisins, dates, apricots, apples or banana chips. Store in airtight container. (I usually make this on cold Saturday afternoons because the pizza dough can rise on the warm stove top while the granola bakes.) |
