CRISPY DATE BARS 
1 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar

Mix until crumbly. Press in a 9x13 inch pan. Bake 10-12 minutes or until light brown.

FILLING:

1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. sugar (white)
1/2 c. butter
1 egg, well beaten
2 c. Rice Krispies
1 c. walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook filling as follows: Mix dates, sugar, butter and cook 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Blend in 1 egg. Cook until mixture bubbles. Remove from heat, stir in cereal, nuts and vanilla. Spread on baked crust. Cool completely.

FROSTING:

2 c. powdered sugar
2-3 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese

Combine and beat at low speed until smooth. Spread over filling. The filling recipe can be doubled for a thicker bar.
