CRISPY DATE BARS 
CRUST:

1 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. soft butter

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine crust ingredients until crumbly and press into 7x11 inch pan. Bake 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

FILLING:

1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 well-beaten egg
2 c. Rice Krispies
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine dates, sugar, and butter and cook over medium heat until it boils, stirring constantly. Simmer 3 minutes. Blend 1/4 cup of mixture into beaten egg and return to saucepan. Cook until bubbles, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in Rice Krispies, nuts, and vanilla. Spread over baked crust and cool completely.

FROSTING:

2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 oz. cream cheese, softened

Mix frosting ingredients and beat at low speed until smooth. Spread over cool filling.
