SHORT RIBS OF BEEF 
4-5 lbs. lean short ribs
Several bay leaves
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 tsp. salt
1 c. tomato puree or sauce (sour cream if preferred)
1 c. water
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. paprika

Cut meat so that there will be a bone in each piece. Roll meat in flour to which salt, pepper and paprika have been added. Place in a heavy skillet and brown on all sides. Add bay leaves, garlic, water, tomato puree or sour cream. Cover tightly and simmer until tender. Onions and vegetables may be added if desired.

NOTE: Oxtail or breast of lamb may be prepared with this same recipe.
