Ayres' Barbecue Beef

 Tammy Hiday (Indiana) says:
My Mom started making this when I was a child after it was published in the Indianapolis Star newspaper. This recipe originated from the Ayre's Tea Room at L.S. Ayre's department store in downtown Indianapolis, IN. I'm old enough that, as a child, I ate there. The store and original Tea Room have been closed now for several decades. However, if you're in Indianapolis, the restaurant has been recreated in the Indiana State Museum and accepts reservations.

I make just the sauce and also use it for BBQ chicken.
