1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
1 c. boiling water
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt
5 to 6 c. of flour

Cream sugar and shortening. Add molasses. Add soda to boiling water and add to mixture. Add the dry ingredients. Roll out, sprinkle sugar over the dough. Cut with cookie cutters.

Bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes.

Caution: Do not add too much flour and do not bake too long.
