GRANDMA'S SAUSAGE DRESSING | |
1 lb. pork sausage 1/2 c. chopped celery 1/2 c. chopped onion 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. sage 1/4 tsp. thyme 1 tbsp. parsley 10-13 slices bread, partially dried, broken in sm. pieces 1 c. chopped red apple 1 c. raisins 1/2 c. water 1 - 1 1/2 c. turkey broth Brown sausage and drain grease. Add celery, onion, salt, sage, thyme and parsley and mix well. Add 1/2 cup water and bread, cook on medium low heat for about 15 minutes. Add apple and raisins. Remove from heat and cover. Mixture will be dry. Let cool in pan. Refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour 1 to 1 1/2 cups turkey broth over mixture, cover and bake 45 minutes. Can be put inside the turkey. Better if made the night before. |
