SWEDISH COFFEE BREAD | |
4-5 c. flour 1 1/4 c. lukewarm milk 1/2 c. sugar 1 yeast cake 1 egg 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. butter 6-8 cardamom seeds, crushed Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm milk; add dash of sugar. Mix remaining milk, sugar, salt, yeast, egg, butter and seeds. Add enough flour to make soft dough. Knead well. Let rise until double. Knead a little and shape into braids. Rise again and brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375 degrees until brown. |
