5 c. self-rising flour 2 c. buttermilk 1/3 c. sugar 1 c. shortening 2 pkg. yeast dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water 1 stick melted butter Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add yeast and buttermilk. Mix well. Chill 1 hour. Roll and cut. Set aside to rise 1 hour in warm place. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Brush with melted butter as biscuits start to brown. These can be made and refrigerated up to 10 days. |
