TOASTY CHEESE BAKE - A BUDGET

8 slices white bread
butter
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. onion, chopped
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1 c. sharp cheese, shredded
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. celery, chopped
Dash of pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Toast bread and butter on both sides. Cook and stir meat, onion, celery, prepared mustard, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cook until onion is tender and beef is brown. Alternate layers of toast, meat mixture and cheese in greased 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt, pepper, dry mustard and milk. Pour over layers in pan. Bake uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes. Serves 4.
