SATIN GLAZED DATE DROPS | |
1/4 c. butter 3/4 c. brown sugar, packed 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. commercial sour cream 1/4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 c. chopped walnuts 1 lb. soft pitted dates (48) Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until fluffy. Stir in sour cream. Measure flour by dipping or sifting. Blend dry ingredients; mix into sugar mixture. Stir in nuts and dates. If dates are large, cut in half. Drop by teaspoonfuls (1 date in each cookie) on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes. Cool and frost with satin glaze. SATIN GLAZE: Heat 1/2 cup of butter over medium heat until lightly browned. Remove from heat. Stir in 3 cups confectioners' sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add 3 to 4 drops of hot water until thin enough to spread. |
