1 3/4 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. Hershey cocoa
1/2 c. boiling water

Cream sugar and shortening together. Add eggs and beat well. Sift together soda, salt, and flour; add buttermilk. Make a paste of the cocoa with boiling water and add all ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees until done. Makes 3 layers.
