COUNTRY APPLE PIE 
Pastry for 2-crust pie
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
6 c. apples, sliced, pared & cored (approximately 2 lbs.) (3 med. apples = 1 lb.)
3 tbsp. butter
Chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a bowl. Arrange half the apple slices on bottom crust. Sprinkle with half of the sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining apples and sugar mixture. Dot with the butter. Put top crust on. Cut vents to allow steam to escape. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until the pie is golden brown.
