OLD STYLE DUMPLINGS 
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. grated onion or chopped chives
2 tsp. melted shortening

Boil the daylights out of an old chicken. Take meat off the bones and add to broth, add carrots, peas, celery, onions and whatever. Sift together all dry ingredients. Work in the onion, then the shortening using the back of a large spoon. Add the milk, mix well. Drop by the spoonful into boiling chicken broth or soup. Boil gently for 10 minutes.
