NO WEEP MERINGUE | |
1 baked pie shell 1 tsp. cornstarch 1/2 c. water 2 egg whites 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Cook the cornstarch in 1/2 cup water until very thick. Mix together, stir with a wire whip. Cool well; add to 3 egg whites, beaten with 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar until foamy. Add 3 tablespoons sugar to light beaten egg whites, continue beating with cooked mix until it forms peaks. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla while beating; put over cool pie filling and bake at 300 degrees for 15 or 20 minutes or until light brown. |
