CARAMEL LAYER CHOCOLATE SQUARES 
14 oz. (50) light caramels (Kraft)
2/3 c. evaporated milk
18 1/2 oz. (1 pkg.) German chocolate cake mix
3/4 c. melted butter
1 c. chopped nuts
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Combine caramels with 1/3 cup of the evaporated milk in top of double boiler. Cook stirring constantly until caramels are completely melted. Remove double boiler from heat.

Combine cake mix, remaining 1/3 cup milk and butter, mixing with electric mixer until dough holds together; stir in nuts. Press 1/2 of dough in greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate morsels over crust. Pour caramel mixture over chocolate morsels; spreading evenly. Crumble remaining cake mixture over caramel mixture and bake 15 to 18 minutes - cool. Chill 30 minutes. Cut into small bars. Makes about 5 dozen.
