CHOCOLATE - CARAMEL LAYER
SQUARES
 
1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1 box German chocolate cake mix
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 c. nuts
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate morsels

Melt caramels with 1/3 cup milk in double boiler. Mix cake mix, 1/3 cup milk, and butter with electric mixer. Stir in nuts. Press half of mixture in greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake 6 minutes at 350 degrees. Sprinkle morsels over crust. Pour caramel mixture over morsels, spreading evenly. Crumble remaining cake mixture over caramel mixture. Bake 15 to 18 minutes. Cool. Cut in small bars (5 dozen).
