FESTIVE COFFEE CAKE 
1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon flavor
1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, chopped

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, and beat after each. Add sour cream alternately with dry ingredients. Fold in dates.

FILLING:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. nuts or coconut
1 tsp. cinnamon

Put half of batter in 9x13 pan. Sprinkle half of filling over; add remaining batter. Spread the rest of filling on top. Bake at 350 degrees until done.
