1 1/3 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. Crisco shortening 3 tbsp. water Sift flour before measuring and spoon lightly into measuring cup and level without shaking or packing down. Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl. With a pastry cutter, cut in Crisco until uniform. Mixture should be fairly coarse. Sprinkle with water, a tablespoon at a time, toss with a fork. Work dough into a firm ball with your hands. Press dough into a full circle with a smooth edge. On a lightly floured surface roll dough to circle about 1 1/2 inches larger than the pan. Bake 10 to 15 minutes at 425 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. With filling as recommended for filling. Also with filling can be baked 1 to 2 minutes first, then add filling, and bake as recommended. |
