RUM BALLS 
1 stick butter
3/4 c. sugar
8 oz. dates, chopped
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla or rum flavor
2 c. Rice Krispies
1 c. chopped pecans
Powdered sugar

Melt butter and sugar in heavy skillet. Add dates and egg. Cook 6-7 minutes, stirring constantly. Add flavoring and Rice Krispies and pecans. Make into small balls and roll in powdered sugar. Vanilla flavor is good but my family prefers rum flavor.
