1/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. mashed potatoes
1 egg
Pinch of salt
3/8 c. milk
1 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well. Bake in moderate oven 25-35 minutes. Test with toothpick for doneness. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or frost.
