GREEN TOMATO CRISP 
7 lb. sliced green tomatoes
3 cups lime
2 gallons water
5 lb. sugar
3 pints vinegar
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. mace
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix lime and water. Add sliced tomatoes and soak for 24 hours. Drain and soak for 4 hours in fresh water, changing water every hour. Drain again. Make syrup of sugar, vinegar and spices. Bring to boil. Pour over tomatoes and let stand overnight. In morning, boil 1 hour. Seal in sterilized jars.

Alternate processing method: Ladle hot mixture into hot 1/2 pint jars; adjust lids finger-tight. Process in a boiling water bath canner for 5 minutes.
