CHOCOLATE TOPPING PIE 
1 tbsp. gelatin
1/4 c. cold water
2 egg yolks, unbeaten
1 1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. finely crushed peppermint candy
1/2 c. cream, whipped
Few drops red food coloring
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar

Mix gelatin in cold water. Combine egg yolks and milk and stir over low heat until mixture coats a metal spoon. Pour over gelatin, add candy and stir until dissolved. Chill. When slightly thickened, fold in whipped cream and coloring. Beat egg whites with salt until foamy, then add sugar gradually, beating until peaks hold. Fold in gelatin mixture, spoon into pie shell. Chill until firm.

TOPPING:

6 tbsp. butter
6 tbsp. confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 squares chocolate, melted
1 egg yolk

Cream butter and sugar. Add chocolate and egg yolk. Mix well and spread on chilled pie. Chill again. This is our Christmas tradition.
