MOLASSES CRISPS 
1 mild molasses or honey
1 c. sugar
5 c. flour
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. lard
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

To be rolled thin and decorated.

Blend the molasses or honey, sugar, butter and lard in a saucepan. Bring to simmering stage, stirring constantly, then remove from stove. Pour mixture over 2 cups flour, beating until smooth; add the eggs. While mixture is cooling sift together remaining flour, ginger, soda, cinnamon, salt, and cloves. When egg mixture is cold, blend with flour mixture. Work into smooth dough. Place in covered bowl or jar and chill thoroughly before rolling. Roll as thin as heavy wrapping paper. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
