SCRATCH POUND CAKE 
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 sticks butter
6 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond or orange extract

Cream butter; gradually add sugar. Add eggs and flour alternately. Then add flavoring.

Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 325°F about 1 hour. Let cool in pan 1/2 hour before removing.

I was looking for something quick and easy for hand mixing. This is great recipe! I sifted the flour as it was added to the batter. I omitted the almond extract because I wanted more of the butter to stand out. Might try orange zest next time, though..
