LATTICE PASTRY (Racsos Teszta) | |
4 c. flour 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 lb. butter 3 egg yolks 1/2 pt. sour cream Mix butter, egg yolks, sugar and sour cream. Add dry ingredients; knead until smooth. Grease 12 x 15 inch cookie sheet. Spread 2/3 of dough onto sheet. Keep 1/3 of dough for lattice top. FILLING: 1 qt. lg. curd cottage cheese 3 whole eggs 1/2 tsp. dill weed mix Spread over top of dough in cookie sheet. Roll out remainder of dough and cup into strips and place over top from corner to corner leaving 2 inches of space between strips. Turn sheet and place strips from opposite corner to get the criss crossed affect. Brush top of lattice dough with egg yolk and water to make it shiny. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Cool and cut into squares or diamond shapes. Sprinkle with confectionery sugar. |
