APPLE PIE AND CRUST | |
5 c. apples, peeled and sliced 1 tsp. lemon juice 2/3 c. sugar 1 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tbsp. butter Sprinkle apples with lemon juice. Mix sugar, flour, and cinnamon with apples. Arrange in pastry lined pie pan and dot with butter. Place top crust on. Trim and seal. Prick or slit crust for steam to escape. Bake at 400 degrees until lightly brown. CRUST: 2 c. sifted plain flour 1 tsp. salt 2/3 c. Crisco 4 tbsp. water Mix flour and salt in bowl. Cut in Crisco with pastry blender until mixture is uniform. Sprinkle water over mixture a tablespoon at a time; toss lightly with fork. When all water has been added, mix dough into firm balls with hand. Divide dough into 2 parts. Makes 2 crust (one for bottom and one for top). |
