3 BEAN SOUP 
1/2 lb. red beans
1/2 lb. Navy beans
2 lbs. whole sausage
1/2 lb. pinto beans
1 med. onion

Prepare beans as usual. Rinse thoroughly. Put beans in 5 or 6 quart pot, cover with 2 inches of water. Bring to boil and boil 3 minutes. Turn off heat. Cover and let stand 1 hour. Drain off water. Add fresh water to cover beans 1 inch. Season to taste. Put medium onion in blender with 1 cup water; blend smooth. Pour into beans. Bring beans to boil, lower heat and simmer till done - 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Add water as needed. Thirty minutes before beans are done, slice whole sausage in 1/4 inch slices. Add to beans. Cover. Turn heat to low. Serve with cornbread. Recipe can be doubled for large crowd.
