OLD FASHIONED TEA CAKES | |
1/4 lb. butter 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. baking powder 1 c. sugar 3 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. salt 3 eggs Cream butter and sugar and mix thoroughly. Add eggs one at a time, beating vigorously. Add vanilla. Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add to first mixture and knead thoroughly. Chill dough for easier handling; roll thin and cut with cookie cutter. Bake in moderate oven until golden. To vary the above, raisins, chopped nuts may be added just before rolling. To make rolling easier and add taste to the cookie, mix 1/2 cup Imperial sugar with 1 teaspoon nutmeg and sprinkle on dough board before rolling. |
