KONOPASEK CORN DOGS 
1 lb. frankfurters
1 c. flour
2 tbsp. cornmeal
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. milk
1 egg, beaten

Pat frankfurters dry on paper towels. Heat vegetable oil or shortening 3 to 4 inches deep fat fryer or heavy saucepan until it reaches 365 degrees. Mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Stir in milk and egg. Dip frankfurters in batter allowing excess to drip into bowl. Fry in hot oil, turning once until golden brown, will take about 6 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
