CONGO BARS 
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
2 1/4 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 c. nut meats
1 sm. pkg. chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix and sift flour with baking soda and salt. Melt shortening and add brown sugar; stir until well mixed. Allow to cool slightly. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add dry ingredients, then nuts and chocolate chips and vanilla. Pour into greased 9x12 pan and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown. Brown about 30-35 minutes.
