SALISBURY STEAK LIKE GRANDMA
MADE

This can be cooked on top of stove, baked or cooked in a Crock-Pot. Great every way!

2 lbs. ground beef
1 cup oats (quick cooking kind)
2 eggs
1/2 cup green pepper, diced
1/2 cup onion, diced
1/2 cup celery (diced) can use some celery seed instead
1 can cream of mushroom soup (diluted)

Mix first six ingredients. Brown in skillet first for each cooking method.

If baking, put in baking dish, pour mushroom soup over. Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.

Stovetop: once browned, cut heat to low, add mushroom soup and let simmer slowly, stirring occasionally.

Crockpot: brown meat in skillet; place in Crock-Pot and pour soup over. Cook on low 6-7 hours.

This will soon become a family favorite and will be asked for often.

I made this for dinner tonight but tweaked it just a bit. I soaked my dried onions in Worcestershire sauce (about 2 tbsp.) and, instead of using a cream soup, I mixed a tbsp. or so of beef bouillon with same of corn starch and a cup of water for the gravy, added some canned mushrooms and yum. Thanks for this recipe, the basics are FAB!

I made this for dinner tonight mostly as written, but cut the recipe in half except using a full can of low sodium cream of mushroom soup. I added Kitchen Bouquet for a brown gravy. Excellent recipe as it also worked using half the ingredients. Nights are cool now so baked in the oven. We have leftovers for the two of us tomorrow night! Really liked this recipe! Very easy and tasted like home dinners of long ago. Great comfort food. Served with mashed potatoes, green beans, and corn.
