OLD FASHIONED NECTAR 
3 c. granulated sugar
1 c. water
1 (13 oz.) can evaporated milk
3/4 tsp. red food coloring
2 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Club soda
Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Combine sugar and water in a 2 quart saucepan and cook over medium heat until sugar completely dissolves, stirring occasionally. Then sugar is dissolved mixture is clear. Remove from stove. Add evaporated milk, extracts and red food coloring. Cool. Pour nectar over ice cubes. Fill glass with club soda. Stir. Sip through straw. A scoop of vanilla ice cream can be added. Yield 1 quart.
