OLD FASHION JAM CAKE 
1 cup Shortening
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
3 Eggs, beaten
3 Cups Flour
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
2 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Cloves
1/4 tsp. Ginger
1 cup Sour Milk
1 1/2 Cups Blackberry Jam
1/2 cup Walnut Meats

Cream shortening and sugar together; add eggs and beat. In separate bowl, sift flour with spices and soda. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternating with the sour milk. Gradually add jam and nut meats. Pour into 3 greased 9 inch cake pans.

Bake 350°F for 35 minutes.

Caramel Icing for Jam Cake:

1 box Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Milk
1 stick butter
Vanilla

Cook brown sugar and milk until it forms a ball. Add butter and vanilla; beat until ready to ice cake.
