OLD FASHIONED TEA CAKES 
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 stick butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sugar

Sift together flour, soda and salt. Cream together butter, shortening, egg, vanilla and sugar. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Pinch off in bits about the size of a marble and flatten out with palm of your hand on well greased pan.

Bake at 300°F for about ten minutes or until brown.
