1 3/4 c. sifted cake flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. milk

Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cream shortening, add sugar gradually and continue creaming until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Add sifted ingredients and milk alternately to the creamed mixture. Mix.

Pour batter into two 8-inch round pans or 9x13 inch pan greased or lined with wax paper. Place in 375 degree oven. Bake 25 minutes. Great with strawberries or other fresh fruit.
