SWEDISH MEATBALLS | |
1 lb. ground beef 1/2 lb. ground pork 1/3 c. chopped onion 3/4 c. fine bread crumbs 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 egg, beaten 1/2 c. milk Place ingredients (in order given) in large bowl. Chill 2 hours or overnight. Mix until well blended and shape into small balls (size of walnuts). Heat 4 tablespoons fat and brown meatballs slowly. When brown, remove meatballs to plate. Add 4 tablespoons flour to fat, 1 tablespoon paprika, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Blend in 2 cups water; cook over low heat until mixture thickens slightly. return meatballs, cover and let heat slowly. Makes 6 to 8 servings. |
