ITALIAN CABBAGE CASSEROLE 
1 med. cabbage, shredded
2 lb. ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 c. shredded Mozzarella

Steam cabbage 8-10 minutes, drain and set aside. Combine ground beef, onion, and green pepper.

In a skillet, cook over medium heat, stirring to crumble meat. Drain well. Add tomato paste and next 5 ingredients. Mix well. Spoon half of cabbage into a 9x13 inch pan. Cover with half of meat mixture. Repeat layers. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake uncovered an additional 5 minutes.

I needed to fix a Italian dish for a carry in. I saw this one and gave it a try. Needless to say I cam home with a empty dish.. A great hit, now sharing this recipe.

I think when I make this I'll use sweet Italian sausage in place of one pound of the hamburger to make it more like it's title. Should give it a little extra flavor.
