ITALIAN STYLE MEATBALLS AND
CABBAGE
 
1 med. head of cabbage, shredded
1 1/4 lbs. ground beef
1 c. cooked rice
1 sm. onion, chopped
1 egg
1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. bacon grease or veg. oil
1 (28 oz.) tomato sauce
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar

Mix first 6 ingredients after the cabbage and form into balls. Blend in the rest of ingredients except cabbage. Place 1/2 shredded cabbage on bottom of baking dish, top with meatballs, top with rest of cabbage. Pour sauce over all. Cook at 275 degrees for 3 hours covered. Note: when doubling use 2 (8 ounce) tomato sauce and 1 (16 ounce) Ragu spaghetti sauce.
