BOSTON BAKED BEANS 
1 c. dry navy beans (approximately 1/2 lb.)
6 slices bacon, cut in half
3 tbsp. dark molasses
1/2 med. onion, chopped
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dry mustard

Rinse beans, add to 1 quart cold water, bring to boil, simmer 2 minutes, remove from heat, cover let stand 1 hour. Add salt, cover and simmer 1 hour, drain, reserving 1 cup of liquid (add water if necessary to make 1 cup). Add molasses and mustard to liquid. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In 1 quart casserole combine beans, bacon and onion. Pour liquid over beans. Cover, bake 3 to 4 hours. Yield: 6 servings, 1/2 cup per serving-1 med. fat meat, 1 bread, 1 fruit, 9 proteins - 181 calories.
