2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
5 1/4 c. flour
4 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
3 1/2 c. applesauce
1 tsp. baking soda

Put soda on applesauce while mixing rest of ingredients. Mix together. Add applesauce. You can also add nuts. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
