APPLE DUMPLINGS 
TOPPING:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Combine and boil. Remove from heat. Add 3 tablespoons butter.

DUMPLINGS:

2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk

Mix above ingredients. Add milk last. Roll dough thinly. Put apples (6-8, sliced and peeled) on dough. Add cinnamon and sugar. Dot with butter. Put in greased pan. Pour syrup over apples. Baste while it cooks. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes.
