1/2 lb. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 c. sweet milk
3 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix butter and Crisco, add sugar then eggs. Beat 3 minutes. Sift flour twice, then mix salt and baking powder with flour and sift once more. Add milk and flour mixture alternately. Beat one more minute. Preheat oven to 325 degrees, cook 1 hour and 25 minutes without opening the door.
