MOM'S SWISS STEAK 
6 cube steaks
1 med. onion
2 c. water
3 tbsp. shortening
Salt and pepper
Flour

Salt and pepper steaks. Roll in flour. Brown on both sides in shortening in skillet. Remove from skillet to baking pan, leaving shortening in frying pan. Add onion to shortening and simmer, add 2 cups water to make gravy. Season to taste and pour over steaks. Bake in 275 degree oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
